FUTURE OF RETAIL. project 01

project details. 8 weeks (February-April 2021)

site. Shoreditch, London

brief. From the arrival of COVID-19 and a rise in online shopping, this meant many shop owners had to close their businesses, causing the highstreet to start dying. This time highlighted just how important it was for physical experiences and now brands and companies are looking forward to see how they can bring people back. I love to develop spaces which create community and influence the user through immersive spaces and this is key for the rejuvination of the retail experience.

idea. Not only do films and TV shows bring people together but so does food, so with my idea I decided to bring these two together by creating a dining experience through Netflix Original Shows. Visitors move around the space, using the lines and footprints as navigation. They’re taken on an immersive dining experience, journeying through the worlds of 8 different Netflix Original shows and a delicacy either inspired or from the show is offered to them. They begin with a drink and then walk through a 6 course meal and then finally ending with another drink. Guests are encouraged to take photos and share their experience with many instagrammable opportunities whether that is to share the looks of their surroundings or the food that they consume. The experience is aimed at subscribers of Netflix with the intention of strengthening the connection between the brand and it’s users. Allowing loyal Netflix customers to explore deeper into the shows they know and love. The visitors aren’t the only ones who gain from the event but Netflix does too. The event is seen as a way of giving back to the people who have stayed with Netflix, further securing their relationship with their users.
